I had the privilege of working with Steve when I first joined DfT in 2004/5 working on local transport schemes. Steve was so kind and welcoming and knew such a lot about local transport. He always had time for you even if he was very busy himself. He was always a friendly face around DfT and always so kind and happy to chat. He was a total DfT legend and I will miss him greatly. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
