I am really sad to hear the news. I work in highways and greatly liked and admired Steve. He was the legendary figure from the DfT but always approachable and interested in what went on now and for the future. He was funny, clever, perceptive and good to be with at events, conferences and presentations. He will be very missed especially at the first 'live' event without him there. My condolences to his family and friends on their loss xx
